Layover between Legs 18 and 19: Mazama Village at Crater Lake
Overnighting: near Rim Village

Cache delivery by Becca and Maurine (Flanagan's wife and mother-in-law).  The road trip that wouldn't end.  Google said 5 hours and it took nearly 8!  Check out this crazy hail storm taken about 30 minutes from meeting up with the guys.

We met up with the boys at the Village, shared good food, caught up on stories, and "exploded" their packs in preparation of a fully supported day of hiking.  Back to the trail head for dinner and kicking around a soccer ball.  And then they were off... with super light packs because the food and water is only for tonight and tomorrow morning and superfluous items (e.g., cook stove, sandals) are in the car.

Mom and I had support tasks tonight: laundry and gear repair.  First we taped up a split stuff sack for their tent.

Then we started laundry.  The socks were amazingly dusty.  Here are the socks after the first rinse . . .

. . . the sixth rinse . . .

. . .  the 25+ rinse . . .

. . . and were calling it good.  (Maurine is a saint to hand wash each off the six socks until water ran clear!)  After socks, Mo moved on to repairing the torn sleeping bag liner while I continued with the hand washing.  Nearly 90 minutes of stitching by Mo secured a foot and a half tear in the silk liner.  The shirt, shorts, and briefs were dirty, but not nearly as photo worthy as the socks.
